GestureTek Systems Inc., the inventor, pioneer and world leader in video gesture recognition and control technology for digital displays since the early 1980′s, is proud to announce that it has been nominated as one of the three finalists for both the DSE 2014 Apex Award and Content Award.

GestureTek’s collaboration with Crayola on the ‘Art Alive’ installation at the Crayola Experience in Easton Pennsylvania has been nominated for the Apex Award in the Arts, Entertainment & Recreation category. The Apex Award recognizes innovation and excellence as demonstrated in the deployment and installation of technology in the global digital signage, interactive technology and digital out-of-home industries.
For the same project GestureTek is delighted to be nominated for the DSE 2014 Content Award also in the Arts, Entertainment & Recreation category. The Content Award recognizes innovative and compelling content created for digital signage and digital out-of-home networks.
GestureTek’s ‘Art Alive!’ installation for the new Crayola Experience is a digital creative experience that allows children to create art on a given mobile device. At 40 different iPad stations, kids can colour and draw an image, apply an animation effect to it (shrink, breakup, spin, change colour) and send it into one of four custom worlds (underwater, space, fairytale, safari) that are projected onto 4 giant 16′x9′ screens. Once a guest’s creation is on the big screen, they can step up and interact with the animated world, as well as their own artwork design by moving their body or waving their arms in front of the screen.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze winners for both the Apex and Content Awards will be announced at the DSE 2014 Awards Banquet on Wednesday February 12, 2014 in Las Vegas.
